long since i did any serious "creative writing", but now, inspiration has struck and i know what i'm doing!
I had an epiphany a few weeks ago, and realized, the best thing about the bedtime stories i tell (and yes, i have told bedtime stories to kids, namely my niece) is the fact that i haven't made them up. they've actually happened, and happened to me (or at least my character) not by my own wish and will, but by circumstance. these aren't stories i've made up while pondering at my desk to tickle the imagination of children, but real memories, with witnesses! as real as the pine needles still stuck in my costume. memories i have brought with me, just like the pine needles and bark in my shoes.
what i am talking about here folks is LARP. that is how i now have an unending amount of beautiful, scary, magical, hilarious stories to tell, and they've all actually happened!
Real memories, real occurrences, in an imaginary world. Real to everyone who was there.
having played my character for 6 years, i have quite a few memories, and while set in a medieval/fantasy world from the perspective of a woodland goblin, all the told stories are true. these are anecdotes from my alter ego.
So, i have started writing these anecdotes, from as far back and as accurately as possible as i can. these to become a collection of "short stories" (good for children in bedtime situations) something along the lines of "The Chronicles of Ruffla".
and this is only part of the project.
I am considering making a second, larger work centered around one of the major intrigues introduced to the Eleria-world by the intrigue writers, but written from the perspective of several of the characters involved. say, the intrigue about the Keys, following the story of each of the keys (or god, even just ONE of them, namely the one ruffla had would be enough to produce a book!) from the perspective of those who held them, and those who tried to get a hold of them, 'til they finally served their purpose of banishing the demon Mephorius from the material plane.
the point with this would be to have a book made by numerous authors, all writing from their characters perspective what they experienced.
anyway, i have also drawn some concept art for some of the anecdotes i've written, because children love pictures, i love drawing and i'm sure they'd help get the message through. also, i'm considering having actual photos alongside the illustrations, to show the reality and the idea, and how close they really are.
So far, i have drawn the place where Ruffla lives. unfortunately i don't think i have any pictures of her habitation, but i'm sure i could set it up, just to get a photo.
considering Knyttskogen is going to be turned into "hutlsfred" come next larp, i thought i'd try to preserve on paper the home of Ruffla for the passed 5 years.
yes i know nothing lasts, and that change should be welcome because it can be molded to be for the better... but sometimes...
I am trying to keep the tint of melancholy out of my writing.
I'm sure i am not the first or only with these ideas, but i sure as hell want to be the first to actually complete it!
